2009 Education Writers Association Opening Reception

Tonight at the opening reception of the Education Writers Association's annual meeting in Washington, DC, Dr. Bernard Harris met with more than 100 of the nation's education writers and had the opportunity to talk with them about what he is doing to promote math and science programs through the Dream Tour, presented by ExxonMobil, as well as this summer's upcoming 30 ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camps. 

The conversations were fantastic and the relationships established were beneficial to the reporters and associate members who are here. 

Bernard heads back to Houston in the morning and then we're off to Atlanta on Tuesday for an educational forum listening tour event Tuesday evening, where he will be joined by some very special guests who will also be featured here on the blog, and when he visits an Atlanta-area middle school for The Dream Tour on Wednesday.

Math and Science are Keys to Unlocking Future

 

 

WHAT:                  

Dr. Bernard Harris,

the first African American astronaut to walk in space, will talk with students at J.C. Young Middle School about reaching for the stars as well as their own personal potential through the problem solving skills they learn in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

 

On the fourth stop of his national 2009 “Dream Tour presented by ExxonMobil,” Dr. Harris will entertain sixth, seventh and eighth grade students with his adventures in space while also motivating them to achieve their own goals. His story provides a powerful backdrop to bring his Dream Tour to students in cities across America including Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, St. Paul, Miami, Mobile, Oakland and Seattle.
